Was located in Oakleigh south(that section is now called Heatherton). The site is now a(quarry?). The fences, gates, entrance road(and ticket booth?) are still there.

Melbourne’s only true independent drive-in theatre. 1st 70mm drive-in theatre in Victoria. Reduced in size in the early 1980’s by selling half of the property to developers.

This is not the only drive-in in the World to have a screen that can fold down when not being used(it also happens at the Tom Price Hall and Drive-in at Tom Price, Western Australia, Australia, it gets folded down when a cyclone warning is issued).

Opened as the New Theatre(with 650 seats), but later coolloqually known as Reardon’s Theatre. Name changed to Port Fairy Cinema in 2007. Renovated(date unknown?). The building is now used for indoor cricket and basketball. 250 seats have been retained for cinema and concert use. Movies are screened in school and christmas holidays.

Wow, that is a very big and tall marquee!! How did they the letters and numbers on and off that tall marquee? Are those big square holes on the tall post part of the marquee, windows?
