http://gizmodo.com/imaxs-new-laser-projectors-make-me-wish-i-lived-in-a-mo-1689480610 I’m sure this theater will get this soon and maybe upgrade their 4k projectors to 8k soon
Next month this theater turns 15. Back then the share price of AMC was cheap as it’s across the street competition had more summer hits than the empire which cost around a hundred million bucks to develop. Pretty soon things turned around and now the empire is the #1 theater in the USA. Next year will be ten years since AMC sold off the e walk due to antitrust rules from the merger which was a good idea.
When did UA take over…had this theater still run it would’ve been owned by Regal. The opening of the Paramus Park movie theater this fall will mark Regal’s return to northeast NJ after selling its theaters in North Bergen to independent companies. The closest Regal is in South Plainfield as well as Pohatcong, NJ.
i agree. They often have exclusive engagements of movies before anyone else alongside major cities…the building is amazing outside when compared to the regal across the street. I remember when this theater opened in 2000 the New York Times ran an ad promoting the chain’s entry into New York City. Not only did this theater showed arthouse and mainstream fare but they had a classic movie program at the time.
Did the seats get renovated in the years of the opening of the theaters? I like the current seats they’ve used in the sixteen plex especially the guardrails which the old theaters lacked. The advantage of the outers and inners they had more space for disabled people. had the lease been extended for the outers they would’ve gotten luxury seats similar to morristown.
Redstone took control of Viacom in the mid 1980s while keeping the company public. Viacom would take over Paramount in the early 90s, then Blockbuster Video later on, and merged it with its former parent CBS in 1999 before breaking it up in two yet Redstone’s National Amusements still controls voting shares of both CBS and Viacom much like Dolan oversees Cablevision, AMC Networks, and MSG (soon to be split into Entertainment and Sports) and Murdoch with 21st Century Fox and News Corp. It was 25 years ago this Christmas that the infamous violence occured during the release of the third godfather movie.
The museum movie was great. Projection was bright and very sharp yet the film had a grainy feel to it since it was shot on digital. Minor masking on top of the screen. audio was great.
Saw hobbit in 3d thought the 3d was blurry the movie dragged on for too long. Very full house. Some good trailers especially Star Wars in converted 3d with the imax footage at the end of the millenium falcon chasing the tie fighters. Also a trailer for The Walk which is based on the Man on a Wire story. No Mad Max trailer. I plan on seeing Night at the Museum 3 soon.
Speaking of Hobbit I’ll see it in Imax 3D on my bday. Good thing tickets were preordered before hand. I’m sure it will be a bit blurry in 3d but the movie is shorter and I’ll get to see the new star wars trailer in IMAX.
Ok.

What was the best SDDS Presentation?
facebook.
i agree. And Dolby atmos is in empire 25 and ls. Auro 11.1 is in other theaters such as regal.
I’m not sure….star wars was shot on 70mm Imax and 35mm film. They should keep the projector.
the concert hall near this theater will be renamed after David Geffen according to reports.

Not too far from the theater a 7 alarm fire destroyed the Avalon complex last night.
theater is closed.
How does it compare with other lie maxes like AMC?
I agree. Not as packed as morristown or even Rockaway.

you too. Here’s to a better year of box office after last year’s downer and improvements in movie technology and preserving our cinematic heritage.
Went to see mockingjay and enjoyed it. Looks like the interview poster is gone and no HFR hobbit playing.
