Maybe this complex was closed by Regal and management wasn’t informed? Attended a movie last evening (6/30/23) and was appalled at the condition. There are signs for each auditorium, but no sign of what movie was playing there. The recliners have seen better days. The “seating area” worn down in some cases, recliner leg rest torn up. If I had known, even given the temperature, I wouldn’t have worn shorts. On the positive side, the sparse staff was friendly and did a good job. Even though the seats were worn, auditorium was clean as were the bathrooms. Projection and sound clear. Some of the guests balked at the bag inspection policy, which was noted via signage.
we’ll presume you mean the original run of Candide and not the revival?
If that kind of reno is a thing worth nothing, then a similar renovation took place for the show that opened June 17, 2023 - “ Here Lies Love” From Broadway.org “Here Lies Love is based on former Filipina First Lady Imelda Marcos' astonishing rise to power and subsequent fall at the hands of the Philippine People Power Revolution. From the minds of David Byrne and Fatboy Slim, Here Lies Love transforms the theatre into a dance club where the audience is immersed in the story.”
Opening night is July 20th, it has an open ended run. ( correcting my faux pas in original posting)
This is now considered an extinct Disneyland attraction, as the space is being used for other shows.
From “DisneyNews”
Magic Eye Theater was a theater attraction located in Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California. The theater was originally built in 1986 and housed the attraction Captain EO, a 3D film starring Michael Jackson that was produced by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
The Magic Eye Theater featured state-of-the-art projection and sound technology, as well as a 70mm screen and 3D glasses that made the images on the screen appear to leap out at the audience. The theater was a popular attraction among fans of Michael Jackson and the Disney Parks, and remained a fixture at Disneyland until 1997, when it was replaced by the Tomorrowland Expo Center.
In 2010, the Magic Eye Theater was once again used to show Captain EO, in tribute to Michael Jackson after his death. The attraction ran for a limited time and was hugely popular among fans of the pop icon. Today, the theater is home to a variety of seasonal and special events, and has been used to showcase new attractions, movies, and other entertainment offerings at Disneyland Park.
Thanks for the updates. I was hoping a local would jump in. Unfortunately my last visit was marred.
Watching “Hateful Eight” in 70mm and about an hour in a fire alarm went off bringing along an earlier intermission.
Shame this place didn’t make it. Seats were alot comfier and it was a better movie going experience than the Metreon or long lamented Van Ness.
According to their website looks as though they are shutting down the power after the 2nd show , tomorrow (6/15) with only 4 screens operating.
Since someone offered the opening attractions, let’s get the closing here so we have the ‘history’ buttoned up.
We close down with “Spider-Man : Across the Spiderverse”, “ Transformers : Rise of the Beasts”, “The Little Mermaid”, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”

“The work calls for removal of the Regency Theatres—which began a downward slide during the pandemic and never fully recovered—and the construction of new stores, restaurants and up to 119 apartment homes at two different sites on the 25-acre property just east of the Calabasas civic center.”
