Not sure but check out the page for the grand opening of this theater, which happened nearly 7 years ago this weekend. I believe it’s the Atmos ETX screen. The Imax theater is second and one of the single numbered theaters is third.
When did they put in reserved seating? I noticed that on showtimes on fandango. I noticed that there’s still clearview signs near the building and an AMC sign near the parking lot.
Some people on Yelp and twitter have complained that movies start too late due to technical issues and gripe about high prices. It won’t be long before AMC raises prices later this year…makes me want to stay home and watch a bluray or stream a movie inside my home or watch with friends. This year marks five years since the Imax installation and digital 4k projection was installed. Nothing much has changed although prices have gone up and ticket providers changed although this theater now serves both movietickets and fandango. The preshow can be shazamed by cellphone for more info. They need to hire better personell for the theater. And maybe some reclining seats ala Morristown for the non stadium seats.
Just came back from seeing Mr. Peabody and Sherman in RealD3D. While i enjoyed the movie, the short film before it, and the 3d previews complete with excellent surround sound, i thought the 3d lenses were a bit separated and somewhat blurry. The ticketing machine that prints out tickets printed out the wrong movie yet the cashier was lucky to write in the correct auditorium number. Theater was very clean.
http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/rockettes-kicked-curb-article-1.1729439#ixzz2wcMvmjlK….no wonder why MSG promoted this a lot on tv…heard about it on facebook…
it seems that WB became the first major studio to follow the same pattern that Mark Cuban did, although Veronica Mars didn’t show up on HBO (now that would’ve been cool) since like HBO WB is owned by Time Warner and has shown most of Time Warner’s movie library since the 1989 merger.
12 years a slave is still playing at this theater after that oscar win. Just saw this theater featured in a USPS commercial promoting The Amazing Spider-Man 2. At the end of the commercial, Spider-Man delivers the print to Stan Lee, who is the projectionist. Hahahaha!!
Seems that AMC knows how to deal with winter storms by closing the theater for the remaider of the day of the storm to allow plowers to clear the parking lot and the township to clear any snow near the front, sides, and back of the theater.
Went to see The Lego Movie in 2D last night…movie was entertaining and funny. The surround sound was decent and picture good quality. The Pathway to the auditorium was a bit dirty with popcorn kernels.
This weekend The Lego Movie is in 3D and every screen is digital according to fandango while renovations are being one on a few screens. The exterior of the building still has the clearview sign, right? They should put back the AMC logo near the theatres sign.
This coming weekend a hostful of Oscar nominees are back at this theater. Speaking of oscars, AMC will have the BPS next month before the awards ceremony in March. I used google search for movie tickets and found that AMC is now using Movietickets alongside Fandango for advance tickets, with the former the default for buying tickets and checking to see if it’s sold out or not. I find fandango more colorful and the mobile experience better. The website for amc’s theater is also useful too. The Imax screen in Rockaway is probably the largest in the NW section of NJ, which is great for scope movies.
Same here, GaryCohen. It’s been a long time since i went to an Imax movie there. I mostly go to my nearest theater which sadly is a Digital Imax that is not as tall as this one.
It leaves them in the dark, although there are a few of them that have used it before, such as a theater in Dunnelen, NJ. That plus the increase in digital projection, prices, and luxury seats add a heft cost for the theater owners and to moviegoers' wallets. This is why AMC has become a leader in brining people back to the movies in a big way.

scary…found out on twitter. The theater reopened one day after the incident.
First heard about this story on News 12…. http://www.app.com/article/20140324/NJNEWS/303240078/monmouth-mall-alarm

Looks like Divergent is selling out in Imax. Hopefully word of mouth is good just like other movies like that including Hunger Games.

great article. Too bad some of these theaters are extinct or gone in the age of the megaplex.
hopefully they put in stadium seating…i like stadium seating when i go to movies
Just checking out showtimes for this theater and looks like AMC is not showing any classic movies there still. What a shame.
https://www.omsi.edu/empirical-theater…theater renamed empirical theater, no longer shows imax movies.
i saw sweet charity on Encore in a restored version that was remixed in Dolby Surround sound.

I think it has to due with location.
Same here JohnRice…i see more trailers online than in theaters and on blurays….
this theater is being used as a shelter for victims of the shooting as a precaution since it’s a separate building.
A shooting near the movie theater in the mall has the mall on lockdown today.
