From what I read, Nolan shot the film in two aspect ratios….2:35.1 for the Panavision footage and 1:44.1 for the IMAX scenes. The digital imax is cropped to fit the small screen, so i’ll just go for regular digital anyways. Not much information is lost in the regular format (Just like with Dark Knight, nolan also shot it in regular alongside the IMAX cameras).
This might be the most famous theater in America for a generation of moviegoers who went to see the #1 movie in america at midnight and got a bad rep. Upon looking at the list of theaters in this city, there are others that Aurora residents can go to while this theater is being closed due to this tragedy. Once its remodeled, many tourists will go back to this theater mostly for an escape, not a tragedy.
On the weekend that spider-man came out the weekend after july 4th, there was construction on a friday night outside the parking lot of the theater on Route 10, causing major traffic backups. Security at this theater is also increased due to the tragedy in colorado.
Good for you MGrennile. I think I’ll do the same and see TDKR in regular digital projection (i didn’t see dark knight in 2008 in rockaway because it was crowded and i went to mansfield which had digital projection). Extra security will be there due to what happened in Aurora a few days ago.
Due to the tragedy in Colorado, security at all AMC theaters including this one are tightened this weekend. Despite that, people are still buying tickets to the new batman movie, especially in IMAX. ONe note….the imax theater showing the film is not showing any trailers before the movie since it’s real imax. The movie’s world premiere was held at this theater this week.
Amazing Spider-man won’t be what The Dark Knight Rises is going to be July 19th at midnight. The only place that will be busy are the imax locations (the one in Lincoln Square is the best) and regular locations all over the city (AMC Empire will be jammed). Not only that, but the liberty science center is showing the imax film on the dome screen…now that’s intense!!!
Usually when the theater closes between movies they usually check for bugs or bad equipment as well as upgrade the theater to the latest projection and surround sound. Clearview’s most famous venue is also its most valuable and profitable. FYI, the parent company of the Post, News Corp (which will soon break up into two), had its Fox division send some of its movies there, including the Star Wars prequels and the classic trilogy special edition.
Went to see ted last night in theater #1, preshow was on but no picture just sound. At least the film and previews started on time, projection was amazing (the film was shot using 1080p hd cameras) and the sound quality was great. Theater was very packed. This movie was funny!!!
Moonrise Kingdom is finally playing here this weekend…i might give it a shot if it’s not sold out like it has been the past few weekends in limited release. PT Anderson’s past few movies were good…my favorite that i saw on the big screen is The Royal Tennenbaums at the clearview in mansfield. I have the Criterion dvd.
I never heard about Megasound but read something about it in old movies ads i find online. Paramount even tried their hand at deep bass surround sound with Vistasonic, which was used on a few movies before Paramount shut it down due to the popularity of baby boom Dolby Stereo. Without Sensurround, there wouldn’t been a Dbox, which is also used for home entertainment. At least one theater in NJ had it, Mega Movies in East Brunswick. My favorite surround sound track has to be from Batman Forever, which was amazing in 5.1 SDDS at the Loews in Wayne. Titanic sounded good too.
John Fink, according to reply by amc to one fan asking about dolby atmos in etx in nj, yes, it’s already installed in the ETX screen at garden state. Too bad my local AMC in rockaway doesn’t have any big screens to hold that many channels.

I saw something on eyewitness news and the project is a go!!!
yes.
Extra security is now at this theater due to people wearing masks at the dark knight rises midnight showings. I read about it on news 12 nj.
Clifton Commons was featured on WNBC tv in a report on how movie theater chains are adding extra security due to the tragic events in the rockies.

Lol
Come July 19th at midnight, this theater will show the longest IMAX movie ever made….http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wm2vIaD3GYQ

I’m sure the Dark Knight Rises will be the longest running movie at the ZIegfeld lol…..

elements of the logo can be seen on the floor of the lobby near the box office and the signage of red and the font used for Loews.

Superman II and wolfen were the last movies released using megasound.

In fact, according to AMC, it will be on the ETX screen.
