The next IMAX digital showing will be Contagion, the bird flu movie. According to IMDB, it was shot on a Red camera, which means higher resolution. Speaking of IMAX, transformers 3 is being re-released in IMAX 3D for a two week run. I’ve checked showtimes for Friday and found none. Maybe AMC will publish showtimes on Friday. I went to see 30 minutes or less in 4k two nights ago. Although I came in a bit late with my friend to see the movie, i sat a bit close to the screen. The photography was a bit blurry, but the credits were sharp at the end. Sound was great too.
North by Northwest is known for the flying plane going towards Cary Grant, and Cary Grant climbing Mount Rushmore. Imagine watching it on the big screen at the hall with surround sound.
Ur Welcome Alex. JJD, what’s up? Any word on when ETX comes to AMC? It would be great if AMC removed the liemax and installed the ETX in their screen. Either that, or they can use Theater 9 for that.
Starting in August, AMC will add a surcharge for non-movie showings. Just saw that while waiting in line for Harry Potter 7.2 3d, which wasn’t great in 3d. The trailers were pretty good in 3d, especially Happy Feet Two. This coming weekend, Harry Potter 7.2 will still be playing in IMAX 3D while Harry Potter will be shown in 2D digital projection, which I think is the way to see it. I’m planning on seeing Cowboys vs Aliens in a few weeks…hopefully it’s good surround sound busting, giant blurry screen fun. Now only if AMC can get new lenses, since they have been in use since AMC opened nearly 5 years ago.
Went to see captain america in 2D yesterday at 5:30..sold out show and the crowd was well behaved. I saw during some scenes in the movie that Captain America throws his shield and other stuff that could’ve been seen in 3d. It was a good movie. One thing I noticed was that when the lights were on during trailers, the projection seemed sharp, and when they dim, it gets blurry. Hopefully AMC installs new lenses to make the picture more lifelike for 2k presentations as the 4k projections are pretty good.
If you went to see Harry Potter, did the Dark Knight Rises trailer play before the movie in 2d digital, 3D, and digital imax 3d? Here’s an article regarding IMAX’s plans for the future…http://tinyurl.com/44bqa4u
Went to see TF3 during its third week out. Not crowded as Harry Potter, but worth seeing in 3D. Very sharp and action packed and noisy. There was two 3D trailers: both of which were converted 3D…Immortals looked bad, while Captain America looks good. 2D trailers included Mission IMpossible 4, Moneyball, and Killer Elite, which is being released by Open Road Films, an independent movie studio run as a joint venture between AMC and Regal. There was a cool 3D commercial for Nike and the old Sprite ad featuring an NBA player drinking sprite and transforming his head. The person who tore the tickets dressed up like Harry Potter!!!
All midnight showings of Harry Potter 7.2 are sold out, including all 2D and reald 3d screenings, and one liemax 3d showing. Luckily tickets for the 3 AM showing are still available for Imax, and the only showtime that’s sold out for tomorrow is the 7:30 PM IMAX showing. Check this article from the daily record (Star Ledger also covered the Harry Potter lines at this theater and it’s on the front page)…http://www.dailyrecord.com/article/20110713/NJENT/307140008/Friends-first-line-Deathly-Hallows-Part-2-?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE
According to a tweet by Roger Ebert, a reader of his reviews who works at an AMC theater got told by the company that it won’t use 3D lenses on 2D movies, which is a good thing.
Looks like TF3 will be playing on one realD 3D screen and one extra showtime on another realD screen to share with another 3D movie. 4 3D movies at this theater. I saw an ad that Vizio is selling a 3DTV for people who want to keep their theater 3D glasses and use them for the tv.
You double commented ziegfeldman. BTW, Transformers 3 is playing in 3D at this theater. I heard that the 3D was great. Would Clearview upgrade their projector to 4k like what AMC and Regal are doing in NYC? That would be a huge improvement.
My correction, for this weekend, Transformers 3D in IMAX will be shown twice during the night this weekend and throughout the next weekend. For the night before Harry Potter 7.2 comes out, AMC will show a double feature of the final chapter in the Harry Potter movie saga. Tickets are selling well, as the 2D version is selling more than the 3D and IMax versions combined. So far, Transformers 3 is doing great at the box office, mostly due to the 3D that is accounting for nearly most of the take.
Looks like Cars 2 will still be in liemax this weekend as Transformers 2 will be only in good 3D and digital 2D. Larry Crowne opens this weekend, followed by Zookeeper and Horrible Bosses next week, both of which will fail. Then next week, it’s Potter vs. Pooh in battle of the family movie event of the summer. Good thing Pooh isn’t in fake 3D since it’s good old Disney animation. It will be the first digital 2D animation film that Rockaway has shown. I don’t mind the 3D in the Harry Potter movie, it makes it look immersive. Tickets are selling really well for Potter. I can’t wait.

Conan 3D, Spy Kids 3D (in smellovision), and Fright Night 3D are all playing at this theater. Too much 3D movies….lol
Starting friday, the next IMAX 3D movie to be shown will be Final Destination 5. Boo.
I noticed on movietickets.com that AMC is starting to show Sensory Friendly Films at this theater. More info at http://www.amctheatres.com/SFF/.
North by Northwest is known for the flying plane going towards Cary Grant, and Cary Grant climbing Mount Rushmore. Imagine watching it on the big screen at the hall with surround sound.
Looks like AMC will equip more screens with Real D 3D soon, about 1,000 screens. This means more dizzying viewers will experience very blurry 3D.

Non-movie showing includes Met in HD events, sporting events, and Fathom Events. If you use an AMC gift ticket, then you have to pay the extra fee.

how does it compare with the one in rockaway? The one is ok….the seats near the front of screen suck.
this is great. I use foursquare a lot…..it’s much better than facebook places.

i agree. Michael D. Jackson. Moviegoing will still be around for future generations to come even as the transition from film to digital progresses.
thanks!!!
I’m seeing it at another theater in the area. “Twilight Zone” is on netflix without commercials.

Too bad Cinerama didn’t play at this theater, since the screen was a bit smaller than wider.
