you’re right I made a Salary I think was $150.00 a week. With Kid shows, Midnight Shows, having to come in usually at 10am every morning even though the show wouldn’t start til 1:00 pm and we ran at least six shows aday, yep managers got the short end even selling R.A.T’s,we figured just the Assistants and Chief of Staff was averaging about $1.60 an hour;less than our B.O.Girls,concession,and Doormen. We never could really slack off during Peak times at REGENCY I,II,and III in Augusta,Ga.,but we did our share of a lot of the stuff you guys did and really loved every second.
MPol see Columbia Square Cinemas somewhere in Posts is a Picture that Made the AP over the protests It went far enought that Warner Brothers SAW it. I think it was WB, been so long I can not remember.
All the ones I have I have gotten from closed theatres or Drive-ins.Either I got them or it was the City dump.Have 12 plex closed in Town would love to have all of them, but all are connected.
I totally agree with you it was from a Article written by a Jacksonville,Fla reporter and I guess sorta qualifies as a Drive-in,They Charged Admission, showed 16mm I am sure, sold Concessions.I found a Drive-in in St.Thomas,Virgin Islands that think was portable.Had ads in the paper there for one summer and nothing again.
Yeah, too bad all the CT members can’t be in all these smaller towns that have Newspaper Archives in town.I guess we will never get them all on.Especially Drive-ins some only lasting a season or less.
Seems like the Theatre never change playing movie such as “SUDDENLY A WOMAN”.It play “ROSEMARY’S BABY” first run.Maybe the Crowd for “MARY” was a moviegoing crowd and not a fighting one,touraine32.
THE MALL Theatre would run a wide selection of films such as June 1 1970 “I AM CURIOUS YELLOW” and “LOVE GODDESS” Back August 18 1969 they would be playing “THE BLUE MAX” and “VALLEY OF THE DOLLS”.
Just spoke to a resident of Warrenton and I was told The Knox Theatre now has a brand new roof and facial on the front when the Whole downtown under went a makeover. Sadly,According to Tommy Thompson not a thing has been done inside and he said the small Town was indifferent to the Theatre and he doesn’t expect much to be done to the small brick theatre. At least they didn’t Bulldoze it like they did to the Wilkes Theatre in nearby Wshington,Georgia"and put up a parking lot".
You would think most of The Sunshine State would just about have all the Drive-in Theatres on by now.The Jasper Drive-in,Rick,parked 200 cars and was owned by J.O.Biddle in 1956.
“THE EMIGRANTS” is breaking Box office records at this Cinema, going on the Fourth Month! Also playing June 3 1973 was “HITLER LAST TEN DAYS” 3 weeks and “SLITHER” all have restricted type ratings even though they were PG in the States.Noticed they had their own standards.
It would have a thrill to see Errol Flynn in “THE CHARGE OF THE LIGHT BRIGADE” there on that large screen.Pity they are about all gone,Great Actors and Great Theatres.

Great article,so thankful I was able to give Seven Years to the real theatre business. Not this non-sense today.

The Bay drive-in parked 150 cars and was once owned by J.J.Tringas.
It parked 200 cars and was owned in the Late Fifties by Gluckman and Mitts.
Must have opened or closed before 1956,not listed in the 1956 Motion Picture Almanac.
