On their website the list it as the Stadium Cinemas.

Opening in 1969, this theater was originally a single screen theater. The first movie to be shown there was “True Grit”. Another screen was added on the right side of the building to make it a twin. Later on, walls were constructed on both sides to make it into a quadraplex. It’s last day of operation was June 3, 1999. It is now a night club (The Party Zone).

According to Mike Rivest’s Opening ad in the photo section the theatre opened in 1982.

I think the Gorham Theatre was in the same building as the Town Hall. When they stopped listed the Gorham Theatre they listed the town Hall. Same number of seats.

South Side Man, EH? My Best friend and father were from the South Side. We visited the Granada mostly because their father was best friends with Tony DeCarlo who managed the Granada for many years.

Norman, the Granada Theatre was often referred to as the Mini-Fox of South St. Louis. Not many neighborhood houses were built like that.

Joe, I believe they were two different theatres. They were two blocks apart and the Washington became the Illinois. The Washington did have an airdome though. The Washington/Illinois Theatre building is still standing.
