Planeview Theatre

Located in Planeview United, a suburb to the southeast of Wichita. Designed by the Kansas City based Boller Brothers architectural firm, the Planeview Theatre opened on December 24, 1943 with Berry Grable in “Sweet Rosie O'Grady”. There was also the 16-lanes Planeview Bowl adjacent to the theatre, which also opened on December 24, 1943. The Planeview Theatre was operated by Fox Mid-West Amusement Corp. It was closed in 1964.

It is Planeview not Plainview.

Planeview is a neighborhood in SE Wichita that was built during WWII. It housed aircraft workers thus the name of Planeview not Plainview.

Planeview was one of four neighborhoods built to house all of the aircraft workers that came to Wichita during WWII.

The Fox Planeview Theatre and Planeview Bowl both opened on December 24th, 1943. Grand opening ad posted.
