Postcard image of Rundle and Hindley Streets.
This half-tone printed image shows the bustling Rundle Street of the 1930s and 40s. The Savoy is prominent in the foreground. The street is now a pedestrian only mall. The two department stores opposite the Savoy have been replaced with modern buildings. The building with a red roof immediately behind the Savoy is on the corner of Hindley Street, a predominantly theatre and night entertainment precinct. It is in direct line with Rundle Street. All of the mile long East-West streets change their names as they cross the 132 feet (40m) wide King William Street to shorten the distance to be walked in finding an address.
