I worked there briefly in ‘89, before the Loews at the Kenwood Towne Center opened. I was a projectionist at both places that summer. It was a big deal that they were going from reels to platters!
On a side note, does anyone remember the name of the arthouse Downtown during that same time? I only recall it being called The Movies. Any help would be appreciated.
This drive-in reopened for the summer of 2013. Its status for the future is up in the air, as Chakeres has sold the Wilmington 5-plex.
This theatre is no longer owned by Chakeres. It is now owned by Republic Theatres, and has converted from 35mm to digital.
Hi, is there any update on a website or opening date? I’ve been trying to contact the theatre.
This is where I saw my first movie as a child. The first thing I remember seeing there was “Young Frankenstein.”
