This single screen drive-in could accommodate about 350 cars. It was opened on September 15, 1953. From 1960 it was part of the Kerasotes Theatres chain who operated it for many years. The theatre closed in 1981 and was demolished in the late-1980’s. The property has become farmland without any evidence of its former existence.

This is where I saw my first movie as a child. The first thing I remember seeing there was “Young Frankenstein.”
Allanhowls, do you remember a more specific address for this drive-in?
It is on: N County Road 800 E, Tuscola, Illinois 61953 To get a exact address might be tuff.
Look for the silo in the middle of the farm field and that is it!!
A closer address (according to Google) is 1012 North Co Road 800 E, Tuscola, Illinois 61953. That is right next to what is left of the drive-in, a feint outline including the ramps with a silo in the middle. http://tinyurl.com/jkr95rz
The Nov. 21, 1953 issue of BoxOffice mentioned that George Barber owned a drive-in “about a mile and a half west and south of Tuscola, where he operated the Strand.”
“TUSCOLA, ILL. – Kerasotes Theatres of Springfield has purchased the Strand Theatre and the Tuscola Drive-In from George Barber, who is retiring from the theatre business.” — Boxoffice, April 25, 1960
Opened on September 16, 1953.
