Chakeres Theatres Wilmington Plaza Cinemas 5 was opened on July 9, 1993 and replaced Chakeres twin Plaza Cinemas and the Murphy Theatre in downtown Wilmington (Both have their own pages on Cinema Treasures). It was taken over by Republic Theatres in 2014.

This theatre is no longer owned by Chakeres. It is now owned by Republic Theatres, and has converted from 35mm to digital.
