I recall this theatre, and think I did go there a few times with some of my black friends, I recall that while it was most made up of blacks, there were whites that attended, it was a mix and we all got along
I lived in the near northwest side from 1947 to 1952 and have many wonderful childhod memories of going to any saturday matinee,as well as going in the evenin with the whole family before we were able to afford a TV set. We lived on Eugene St which was a short walk away. I will always cherish those wonderful times in my life
I have many wonderful memories of the Bryn Mawr from the 1960’s. What a great place to spend a few hours. BTW in Chicago its the L not the EL. Chicago is not New York, thank god for that
