The theater seemed to still be somewhat operational in 1983, it may have shut down sometime in the 80s or got replaced by the 6-plex across the road in the mid 90s.
This Cinema in Jackson IL seemed to be built around 1995-1996, purpose built as a 6 screen complex. Sometime around 2020-2022 the front facade got an upgrade and major modernization overhaul.
I have no clue if the western unfinished drive in was built as an independently operated theater, an experimental duplex drive in, or it was supposed to be the spot where the original drive in was gonna open, but developers realized it was disruptive to traffic so they built an improved drive in at the last second. I don’t really know.
This is a pretty sick cinema, the whole place is comfy and intimate. The only issue is the outside of the building where the wood covering the windows make it look like it’s abandoned. But still great place.
As Far as Arial images shown, it seemed some of the theater exteriors have been removed by the mid 1990s, so for now we’ll just pin point the exact time of closure to be either the late 80s or early 90s.

As of June 2026, the former theater is now a Planet Fitness.
The theater today is a Quad-plex renamed to Star 1,2,3,4.
