Both the Katoomba Empire and Blackheath Arcadia were licensed on the same day – 22nd January 1915. However, the Empire in fact opened 16th January – a week before Blackheath. The Empire operated as the main Blue Mountains area cinema until the nearby Katoomba Savoy opened in 1936.
