  • <h1>The Picture Gardens on 122 Stirling Highway that never opened.</h1> <p>Located on Stirling Highway on the southwest corner of Louis Street.   • <p>Source - Daily News (Perth, WA : 1882 - 1955), Saturday 6 March 1937, page 12.</p> <h1>The Picture Gardens that never happened.</h1> <p>NEW PICTURE GARDENS FOR NEDLANDS</p> <p>Revolutionary design has been incorporated in the plans of a new open-air picture garden to be built in Stirling-highway, Nedlands. As soon as this structure is completed, an indoor picture theatre, will be constructed on an adjacent block.</p> <p>A parking space will be accommodated between the two buildings, with easy entrance and exit. Plans have been prepared by Mr. F. G. B. Hawkins and tenders for the building will close on Wednesday. The construction, which will be known as the Dalkeith Picture Gardens, is be ing built for Mr. R. Hatfield.</p> <p>The entrance, constructed of brick, will- be 64 feet long and 28 feet high. The ticket box will be accommodated in a kiosk under a cantilever awning. A dual purpose will be served by the front brick wall. On the street side will be provided a 20 feet by 10 feet panel for a poster. On the other side will be an 18 feet by 14 feet screen.</p> <h1>Patrons entering the theatre will actually walk under the screen towards the biograph box to reach their seats.</h1> <p>Then they will have to turn around, facing the entrance to see the films.</p> <p>MODERNISTIC DESIGN The building will be enclosed by ornamental trellis- and the facade, will have a modernistic design as the cen tral motif. The biograph box and re winding room will be 140 feet from the road. Fire-proofed brick and concrete, to comply with the Health Department’s regulations, will be used for this section.</p> <p>The entrance gardens will stand well back from the, roadway and will be fitted with ornamental iron gates and a semi-circular pond with wall fountains.</p> <p>Mr Hatfield owns three blocks on the site of the gardens.   • <p>Panorama Drive-in Soldiers Road and Brookton Highway, Roleystone, WA</p> <h1>Photo - Projection booth made out of AC Sheeting sits broken & deserted.</h1> <p>Located on Soldiers Road at the corner of Brookton Highway. The Panorama Drive-in opened around Easter 1956. The drive-in also had a sit-in for 400 people. The drive-in closed in April 1967, and the speakers and projection equipment taken the new Exmouth Drive-In. The building used for the sit-in area (and kiosk?) is now a antique store, and a real estate agent had premises on the site, and the rest of the site is vacant.
