  • <p>It’s February 1, 1977 and time for the De Anza Drive-In Theatre to carry the baton for the Cactus Drive-In that was demolished in favor of this three (and later four-) screen drive-in. Get there early as the space will be tight: Screen one holds 500 cars but screen 3 only has room for 300 and screen 2 just 200. De Anza Drive-In Theatres Inc. has a fully-automated projection room so things should run on time. (At top is the Cactus Drive-In’s last night October 26, 1976 with “Taxi Driver” and “Obsession.”</p>

  • <p>Pingelly Drive-In Stone Street, Pingelly, WA 6308 –</p> <h1>Benito & Anna Parri legendary cinema entrepreneurs.</h1> <p>Photo: The Parri family</p> <p>Consolidated Theatres leased the Pingelly drive-in to Benito & Anna Parri. Both Benito & Anna were well versed in the running of cinemas and international live promotion. The Pingelly drive-in proved to be popular with the local residents and traded very well. Benito was often seen at the drive-in operating the projection booth. As time progressed, distance and increased business commitments became a problem for the Parri family and the drive-in was returned to Consolidated Theatres.</p> <p>A new lease was negotiated with a Mr Larry O'brien. The theatre continued trading into the middle 80’s with attendances falling because of the inroads of television.
