would the Impact/SuperScreen be a good place to see a 1.85 movie like “Justice League”? I would see it on the IMAX screen but I’m really trying to avoid the 3D
I agree that laser is amazing as well, got to see Dunkirk in that and it was mindblowing, I still wish they were able to play alternating laser/70MM shows like they did with that movie though, I’m not really surprised there are only a handful of 70MM prints going out anyway, just sad about an opportunity missed, but the 1.43 ratio is the most important thing and yeah it’s gonna look mindblowing in laser lol
according to this link, no 70MM IMAX print for this theater for The Last Jedi:( not surprised, but still disappointed, although I will still check it out here because it’ll be in 1:43
gotcha, that makes sense. I did notice the exit lights reflecting back onto the screen a bit when I saw “X-Men: Apocalypse” there last year, was annoying at first but eventually I got so sucked into the movie I forgot. I think I’ll probably go see “Wonder Woman” at this Georgetown Dolby screen when it opens in June
awesome, thanks for the info! Shame that the Tysons one ended up being a flat 1.85 screen even though it was bigger, would’ve been cool if it was a scope screen
I know you mentioned that the Dolby Cinema auditorium is medium sized, but I’m wondering: is the screen size bigger/smaller/about the same than the Tyson’s Dolby Cinema?
yeah it’s becoming a huge problem at most newer theaters that have opened in the last few years (mostly Regal and AMC), it really takes away from the experience for me personally when there is no masking.
Good to hear that it is a scope screen. While I did enjoy Tyson’s Dolby Cinema when I went to see X-Men there, I wish it had been a scope screen, or at least had masking. I’m going to try to check out this Georgetown screen if they’re playing La La Land in a few weeks.
this has probably been asked already, but what’s the biggest non-IMAX screen in this theater? I’m trying to book Fantastic Beasts tickets and on the opening Thursday night at this theater they’re showing it in Auditorium’s 4 and 5, just wanna make sure if I see it here it won’t be on a crappy tiny sized screen
does anyone know if there are any scope screens at this AMC? I’ve been to the Dolby Cinema and I know that isn’t scope, just wondering if there are any that might be. Thanks!
I ended up going to Reston to see it on the BTX screen, which I was very impressed with, the screen is huge and the sound was impressive as well (although I’m not much of an audiophile, so my standards are kind of low haha). I’m glad to hear the Secret Life of Pets looks great on the Arclight screen, I might have to go check it out!
Hey Giles, I am actually! Is your username Dubstar?
I’m glad to hear that the screen masks for scope movies, I wish more theaters did this. I’m still deciding between going here or going to Reston to try the BTX screen for Independence Day, because I’ve read other comments below here that said that the BTX screen is a true scope screen, but I’m sure the experience will be good at either. Might have to consider the Fairfax Xtreme theater too, although I don’t know if that’s a scope or flat screen.
I want to check out this theater when the new Independence Day movie comes out next week, and I want to try the “widescreen” theater (which I believe is Auditorium 6. For anyone who has been, are scope or anamorphic movies shot in 2.39 letterboxed on this screen? or is it true widescreen with no bars above and below the image?
perfect, I’m excited to check it out:)

Bill, I really do hope that they keep the marquee and sign up when the new place opens, the building is a piece of history and touched so many lives
does anyone know if there are any scope screens at this theater (besides the Dolby Cinema)? Thanks!
does anyone know if auditorium 12 and 13 are the only scope screens in this theater? or are there more?
