I went to this outdoor theater a few times with my parents in the late ‘50s, and remember its location being just west of Western Avenue and south of 147th street near Posen. The single screen was situated on the east end of the lot, facing west. It closed in the early '60s and was immediately demolished (Status s/b “Demolished”)as the land was acquired to build Interstate 57.
Saw a few movies at the Brandt theater some in time the late ‘50s but it never seemed to be as popular as the Harvey Theater. My recollection is the theater closed some time in the '60’s,
Belvidere Mall, where this theater is/was located, opened in the mid 60’s.(Montgomery Ward was the big anchor store!) I remember going to see movies there a number of times with friends.
Had been to Edens I and II a number of times – including seeing the first Star Wars (Episode 4)movie. Wish it was still there.
