$<p>The Princess Theatre was opened on 30th August 1911. It was designed by Marino Lucas with decorations by J & T. Gunn. By 1912 it was screening Spencer’s Pictures. In 1920 it was taken over by Greater Union.</p> <p>In 1938 it was taken over by Hoyts and in 1939 it was taken over by independent operators and was remodelled in an Art Deco style, again the work of J & T. Gunn with architect Charles Neville Hollinshed.
