•
Taken presumably in early December 2025, as part of a batch of promotional photos taken by Station Casinos, the casino’s operator (where the theater is based in).

With Regal now removing the art of the box office (unfortunately), they’ve completely removed the original box office from when the theater opened back in 2006 in favor of either buying the tickets at these kiosks or at the concession stand.

PLFs are practically a luxury here in the valley, with Cinemark’s XD and IMAX being the dominant PLFs. However, it seems that Regal has finally taken notice of this, and decided to elevate their game with adding their RPX format, to this theater and to the Green Valley Ranch (when the renovations are done, of course).

From the December 9th article on Station Casinos’s blog, the blurb about the RPX reads: “Movie lovers can continue to enjoy immersive formats like 4DX, equipped with motion-synchronized seating and in-auditorium sensory effects, now joined by the all-new RPX experience showcasing next-generation HDR projection, Dolby Atmos sound, and select seating outfitted with Magnify8 technology for a deeper, more dynamic way to watch their favorite films.”

The term “Magnify8 technology” is a special term for saying that it features ButtKickers, with the Regal app/website specifying that the RPX at the Red Rock does indeed feature ButtKickers.

This RPX debuted with the release of Jon M. Chu’s “Wicked: For Good” (2025) back in November.

Back-ground - The Rialto was considered the finest and most costly (at one million dollars) theatre in Louisville.

It opened in 1921 and was closed in 1968 and demolished in 1969. It had chandeliers of Bohemian crystal, a great marble staircase, walls of Rockwood tiles. It was Louisville’s first grand movie palace, but is now the site of a parking lot - Notes by Chuck Van Bibber

clzoeller on June 27, 2006 writes - I was assistant manager of Louisville Rialto Theatre from January 1968 until it closed on July 31, 1968. I was the last person to leave the theatre the night it closed. It was a sad day for Louisville and me.

Scottoro on October 3, 2006 writes - I met Robert Wise about five years ago when he was giving a lecture at DreamWorks, where I work. I told him I was from Louisville (Mr. Wise perked up because was from Indiana) and that The Sound of Music had played at the Rialto, Louisville’s grandest movie palace, for an entire year, reserved seat. His face lit up and he seemed genuinely surprised and immensely pleased.
