The Texas ran Spanish movies in the 1960’s until it’s closing in the late 60’s. I was a projectionist at all 3 theaters in early to mid 60’s. UA and the Poag Family were partners in all Del Rio Theaters at that time.
Grew up in the Rita, Texas, Flamingo Drive In, and Gay 90 Drive In theaters in Del Rio. My Dad was manager from 1959 to 1965 and I was a projectionist at all four. Rowley was a partner with the Poags in the theaters, called Val Verde Theaters, Inc. Rita was 1st. run, Gay 90 Drive In ran english. Texas and Flamingo Drive In ran Spanish.
I was a projectionist at the Holiday mid to late 60’s. It did not become a twin until the early 70’s. Owned by Zimmerman Theaters, an independent. Earlier was named the Texas Theater.
This is the new Palace opened in 1965 or 66. Owned by Zimmerman Theaters, an independent. I was a projectionist in the Palace and Holiday while in college.

Repaired speakers as a teenager at the Gulf. Had stereo car speakers for movies in stereo!
