I was in school > Choir (required class) and over the intercom they announced that my mom was at the school to pick me up… and it was to meet up with friends from work > go out to eat > and see Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)! Sold out showing and I remember it had better lighting/interiors than Dickinson. The seats were also way better than Dickinson’s low ones.
Saw The Fugitive (1993) back-to-back weekends. Recall there was a guy dressed up as the title character for Rocketeer (1991) screening.
Saw Man Without A Face (1994) here and remember this was one of the only theatres that sold ice cream and pizza (Pizza Hut).
AMC’s cg ‘Filmstrip-guy’ surfing around and ‘Silence Is Golden’ before the film.
Seemed like Dickinson had more of the action films and AMC had more of the drama’s.
I do remember it closing and then re-opening as a dollar house. I went to see something there and it was a shell of a movie house. It also had a dusty-cant-do-anything-about-it smell.
I remember seeing Predator (1987) opening weekend. When my Mom was buying tickets I remember looking up at small tower of windows filled with sunlight.
Jun 11, 1993 – After school, waited in line for purchasing tickets AND waited in another line for seating. I remember getting real anxious outside the auditorium because we all could hear the film’s jump scares and audience reactions. I think there was a The Real McCoy trailer and a teaser trailer for The Flintstones (1994). That DTS Experience logo that had the disc explode into particles and then that thump with Jurassic Park title fade up.
Heart & Souls (1993) had 2 sneak preview showings that year. I remember it was a 2-for-1 combo with Jurassic Park. Now that I think of it – I saw Batman (1989) sneak preview there the weekend before it opened, too.
Other random stuff: Bingo (1990) banner hanging above the box office lobby and a banner for Freejack (film).
Saw Cliffhanger (1993), Dances With Wolves (1990), Thunderheart (1992) and whatever else the AMC Theatre wasn’t showing (even though Cliffhanger showed at the AMC a week before going to the dollar houses).
The earliest memory I have of this theater was looking up at a poster for The Road Warrior (I remember a Krull/1983 moment, too).
If I remember correctly- I believe there was a single hallway (for all the auditorium entrances) that lead all the way to an exit door.
Saw a ton of movies here growing up – but – only remember seeing Jurassic Park (1993) and Clifford (1994).
Dickenson and then AMC opened theaters nearby which probably took some business away (along with Barrywoods and Zona Rosa).
I don’t remember the incident mentioned previously. I do remember parts of the mall closing off through the years. They use to have those 4 balloons in the center court of the mall that would go up and down.
There was Original Pizza and an arcade next to the theater. I think the arcade use to be a fancy restaurant (as fancy as a restaurant in a mall could be I guess).
I remember seeing Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Batman Returns (1992) there. On both trips we ate at the Ponderosa Steakhouse nextdoor. The last film I saw there was Titanic (1997) in 1998.
It was in the big auditorium but sound system was shot.

Ton’s of early Saturday mornings were spent traveling to this drive-in for the swap meet. Always be a guy with VHS tapes to look over (bought Aliens/1986) and the guy that sold his home made salsa dip. Halfway point always seemed to be that concession stand (burger and drink).
Early 90’s – Remember the high wall faces that held the movie posters as you waited for tickets. We always tried to get there early so we could ear at the food court downstairs (Sbarro: pizza slice and those doughy bread sticks with clumps of garlic wrapped in foil).
Walk up some steps to the consession stand, then, a ramp to the ticket tearer. I believe for Gettysburg (1993) they had a few Civil War reactors hanging around the steps for its opening weekend.
Use to browse the Suncoast store after a film.
A video crew was set up out side the auditorium of Showgirl (1995) getting reactions from people.
Saw Braveheart and Multiplicity in the lower level theaters.
I, too, remember it as one of the first theaters having multiple auditoriums for a single film (Batman Returns / 1992). I think it went up to a count of 6 at one time in the 2000’s.
I think I still got my AMC Moviegoer card somewhere…
I remember seeing Follow That Bird (1985) there on school field trip. Random memory – I think I remember seeing a poster for Superman IV: The Quest For Peace (1987) on the wall.
In high school, I ended up working at the Chouteau and remember delivering a 101 Dalmatians (1996) lobby setup over to IV and it was during a windy night and I remember someone had to sit in the back of the pickup to make sure it didn’t fly away into the night.
I worked there back in high school. Concessions and did the Thursday night marquee duty (street & rooftop) – I remember The Saint, Romeo & Juliet, Space Jam and Ransom playing there.
Growing up, I remember seeing Jurassic Park (1993). It was there in Oct. 1994 and released on home video. One of the last movies to play a year+ in theaters. I remember it played with the old DTS Experience logo.
Michael (1996) – I started to clean up the theater for the next showing and this older couple got all sour at me because I had blocked their view of the end credits crawl. They left and another older couple told me, “Don’t mind them, kid.”
Also, there use to be, I think, three stencil posters of Charlie Chaplin, Marylin Monroe and John Wayne in the lobby.
Music played out by the concession stand and I remember dancing with one of the co-workers briefly and a customer came up, “Don’t let stop you all. Just wanted some extra butter on my popcorn.”
I think there was a Giovanni’s Deli next door, too.
It closed – then got rented out by a church group – then re-opened briefly before closing, again.
Great staff that worked there. Not bad for a first job.

‘South’ side I saw Revenge Of The Nerds II: Nerds In Paradise (1987) and Repossessed (1990). There was a Orange Julius stand down there, too.
