I heard about a year ago that tere was something in the works to save the Ambassador. I have yet to be able to get the web site that was listed up. JamesW, if you have a few interior shots you would like to share, I’d love to share them with everyone. My page on Kilduffs has no interior shots at all. I would love to see this theatre come back, and in time, who knows. But I have to agree Charles that the area really might not be up for a theatre quite yet. Maybe in a few years though. Remember the Hippodrome in the 1980’s.
The Apex is trying to get out of showing movies ( 2005 ) and show live strip shows. There was a lot of talk about it in Dec 2004, and no word as to what will happen. The article did mention that the Fell’s Point Area finds the Apex a good neighbor, even with them showing porn.
2005 Update ! Sadly, the New Theatre in Aberdeen was quietly torn down. An update is posted on Kilduffs.com . The bank next to the old theatre has built a newer bank building and the old theatre is now ……..what else ! A parking lot.
It appears that the nearby TOWN theatre around the corner from the Hippodrome may also be saved. Plans are in the works to rebuild this fine theatre as well. Now if we can only save the Mayfair and Parkway Theatres !
