Was in Waynesville for a friend’s wedding November 2021 & as I drove through main street the marquee for The Strand immediately stuck out. Unfortunately, it looks like it is no longer a theater and is now an ice cream shop, so this may need to be updated (unfortunately it was closed so I couldn’t go inside). Here is a pic I took.

Does anyone know the current status of this theater? Is there an owner? I am interested… Drove by address -saw no marquis…surely it’s not gone? Please post if you know anything. looks like it was being renovated in 2007 according to previous posts.
Thanks!

THEATER FOR SALE $699,000
Mikeoaklandpark: I’ll be anxiously awaiting a photo(s). Thanks.
I went by the theater a few weeks ago and this is what is happening. They spent $100,000.00 renovating the front and the lobby. The box office is beautiful as is the whole front. The lobby is being used by the owners right now as a real estae office. The plans are to renovate the auditorium which was condemened in 1993 and open as a dinner theate within the next 1-2 years. I will try to take a photo when I return there next week.

I wonder what the current status of this theatre and the restoration work is to date? I’ve been to Waynesville, but will now make a point of returning to this quaint NC town. There is a very quaint Christmas store in a former bank (vault still there) on main street that is a must-see.
Thanks Chuck!
lostmemory: Thanks and if you come upon any others, please post.
I think the word “here” has to be highlighted in blue to allow for a photo to be shown as in the website posted by “lostmemory” on Jan. 26th.
