This theater went through a major renovation in 2015/2016. The lobby has been redesigned to make better use of the space, computerized self-service box office, those coke freestyle machines with hundreds of options, and comfortable reclining seats for all screens except #19 (IMAX). FYI the new reclining seats drastically cut down capacity and it is now assigned seating. This makes advanced purchase of your ticket almost essential for any movie in its first few weeks.

This opened on December 22nd, 1999. Its grand opening ad is in the photo section.
Can anyone post details on the size of the screen, quality of the projection or sound system, or other aspects of the theater? I think we all know it’s not a “real” IMAX theater (see: http://www.lfexaminer.com/20081016.htm),,) but maybe it provides better quality that could be worth the extra cost to some people? However, if it’s not much better than a regular screen, that would be useful info, even if it’s just opinion.
It’s supposed to be ready by end of August, should be bigger than Buckland Hill’s IMAX. Theater 19 fits almost 700people.
This place is going to get a LIEMAX in theater 19, their largest theater.
O.k.
Not the best place to see a movie in the area, but it’s the theater I usually end up going to because it’s so damn close to me.
As with all Loews locations, this is now owned by AMC.
Well, I like the colored lights and the walls have a nice design too.
One last thing, the theater has 20 screens, not 18.
I love this place! I see all my movies here. Yes, I love old movie palaces, but out of all the cineplexes this one is the best.
Hello, My name is Theresa Leach and I am interested in the display at the Loew’s Plainville movie theater of the new movie coming out in May, “Madagasgar”. I am in charge of coordinating decorations for the children’s summer bible club at Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon,CT, and the theme is Serengeti. It begins on June 26th through July 1st and I would like to know if I would be able to use your display after you are finished with it? I believe it would be a great addition to our theme of zebras, elephants, lions, and Africa’s Serengeti. I would certainly return it after the we were finished with our Summer Bible Club. I would greatly appreciate your help and you may contact me by email at or by phone @ 860-693-4028. Thank you for your time, Theresa Leach
