The Princess Theater opened in 1925 as a silent movie theater. In 1930 the Princess was upgraded for “talkies”. In 1985 the Princess closed due to competition from nearby multiplex theaters.
In 1992 the Princess was given to the city of Winnsboro. The Princess theater was renovated and is now used for performing arts and educational programming.

The Film Daily Yearbook, 1941 gives a seating capacity of 300. In the 1943 edition seating is given as 615 (the offical website on the history of the Princess states the building was extended in the early 1940’s).
