Originally built in 1972 as a twin, the Polar was triplexed during the 80s. The Polar showed adult films. After it closed, the theater was converted (and enlarged) in 1994 into a grade school.

This opened on July 22nd, 1971 as a twin and a third cinema in 1982. It closed in 1994
Saw the original Star Wars there in 1978 (I think it was second run, buck flicks, or something like that)
June 7 1990 the Polar Triple was showing “HENRY V” , “FIREBIRDS” and a double feature of “MIAMI BLUES” and “WILD ORCHID” Saturday and Sundays Matinees. It was an ACT III Theatre.
From porn to a school pretty cool.
I don’t remember the porn part. Maybe that came later They showed first run as far as i knew. I saw Star Wars first run there (summertime 1977). We stood in a huge que in the parking lot for ages!
A chronology of Anchorage’s 70mm presentations history has recently been published. The Polar gets some mentions in the piece.
