United Artists took it over from Litchfield on June 1, 1987.
News that ABC-Southeastern Theatres had leased space in the new Anderson Mall for an 800-seat theater appeared in the March 20, 1972 issue of Boxoffice. The house most likely didn’t open until the second half of the year, but I’ve been unable to find any announcement of that event.
First known as Anderson Mall Theatre.
Actual closing date is June 1, 2001.
The second screen opened on May 4th, 1984. It was owned by ABC Southeastern, Plitt, Cineplex Odeon (keeping the Plitt branding), Litchfield and UA. 1984 grand reopening ad posted.
Opened in 1972, closed in 2001. Last operated as a twin.
Anderson might have the same trouble,Aiken S.C. has with Augusta,Ga.People in Aiken will drive to the larger city for a night out.Anderson is Close to Greenville S.C. Just a thought, but a pretty good Thought.
This cinema is about to be demolished in preparation for a new mall anchor (Dillard’s). Another one bites the dust.
