The theater still has its original seating and not recliners, most likely due to the fact that this is one of Regal’s top performing theaters and they wouldn’t want to risk a major capacity drop for this location.
That being said, the nearby West Town Mall 9 does have recliners, which were installed in 2018 as part of its Cinebarre makeover.
Theatre remodeled within past 2 years, Includes Recliners, ScreenX, 4DX, IMAX, and RPX, Smoothie place, and a bar. New name is Regal Pinnacle IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX & RPX
Grand opening ad posted
Fotomac, from what I remember, the opening day features were:
Hope that helps!
Fotomac, I can’t find any lists of opening movies. I did find that three of the first movies were “Bewitched”, “Herbie: Fully Loaded”, and “Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl”.
At any rate, if anyone has any grand opening ads, could they post them here?
Oh, can anyone still remember what the opening day features were?
Renovated for its first post-shutdown reopening on August 21, 2020. I saw Tenet and Akira in the IMAX auditorium within about a week of each other. Unfortunately, we moviegoers aren’t doing enough to keep theatres open, as the theatre could close again due to the new James Bond being delayed to next April.
Theater 17 installed a ScreenX experience back on November 16, 2018.
Theater 1 is set to get 4DX seats within the next few months.
Seating capacities at this theater:
Theaters 1, 8, 11, & 18 – 296 seats
Theaters 2, 7, 12, & 17 – 232 seats
Theaters 3, 6, 13, & 16 – 168 seats
Theaters 4, 5, 14, & 15 – 130 seats
Theater 9 – 460 seats
Theater 10 – 450 seats
Theaters 1, 3, 5, 8, 9, 10, 11, & 12 are equipped to show 3D.
Theater 10’s IMAX screen was installed on December 14, 2007. First film shown on the IMAX screen was “I Am Legend”.
Theater 9’s RPX screen was installed on March 1, 2013. First film to be shown on the RPX screen was “Jack the Giant Slayer” in 3D.
Big places like this aren’t going to go away. People need to start finding the beauty in what theatres have become.
Though I agree — most theatre patrons nowadays are idiots. Though napalm is extreme.
Yes yes yes, I know, very odd to hear about having 70mm in a new multiplex, but that was what was in the paper. Can’t say if they’ve ever used it or not, but with the thousands of screens that Regal owns, you don’t think they could have moved a couple of old 35/70mm machines from a different location, especially since this is their biggest venue in their hometown? Does Regal call the Pinnacle their flagship theatre? They didn’t initially, that was the West Town Mall theatre (not to be confused with their Downtown West theatre which is their Knoxville art house). At this point in time, I suspect anything they wanted to show which had originally been released on 70mm would now be transfered to digital. Now let’s all take a deep breath snd be grown-ups and refrain from saying how much we hate digital projection.
There is only one way to view a 70mm movie and that is one a single screen theatre about the time 2001 came out.by the 70’s in was mini-cinemas everywhere.
70mm at a Regal? HA!
70mm at a NEW multiplex is unlikely but if it’s their flagship they may have installed some used 70mm projectors that were sitting around in case the home office brass feels like doing something unique.
As far as multiplexes not having 70mm screens don’t be so quick to judge. Many of the Century Theatres around here in Northern California are still equipped to play 70mm, not that they’ll ever have the chance to do so again.
70mm on multiplex screens I think not.
Thanks.
