Please update, Frank Theatres added 3 screens to make it 10 and stadium seating on June 22, 2007 and screens 11 and 12 on July 20, 2007. The new owners closed 11 and 12.
This theatre is open seating, dosen’t feature RSVP seating. Also posted a better grand opening ad as a twin in the photos section.
Theatre lot is up for sale, but still open atm.

During the time of 83-84 we never split films (or played) the same films as the 309 Cinema.
I was Manager of the Eric 3 Montgomeryville from December 1983 to November 1984 and then became a DM for the Eric Theaters first in Bucks Co and Jersey then Delaware and Chester and Montgomery counties.
Wow. In the newspaper advertisement photo showing the opening of the newly twinned Montgomery in 19975, I can see that AIRPORT 1975 was playing at the Mayfair Theater in PHilly. I went to that showing at the Mayfair that week! What are the chances…
Added some photos in of a few things from late 90s, early 2000s. This was a good place to work pre-Regal, who took over in 2001.
August 30th, 1968 , December 20th, 1974 and October 22nd, 1976 grand opening ads in the photo section.

Gene Sussman was manager from the opening,
where is he today? I remember he was so
happy that he installed pink spot lights
in the lobby. He had a GF who assisted.

Correction! We only have 10 screens! Please correct this, I work there so I would know that we have 10 screens, but if you look up the show times you’ll clearly see there is only enough times for 10 screens. Frank Theaters is supposed to expand again to give us a new lobby, new concession stand and 2 new screens but who knows when that’ll happen, they haven’t even given us a real sign yet, we just have a tarp over the old United Artists sign!
That arrangement of splitting films with the AMC 309 Cinema is a holdover from the 1970’s/1980’s when the Budco 309 Cinema Twin and Eric Montgomeryville Theatre were locally owned.
All I have to say is wow. I stopped going to this theatre years ago when Regal took over because it was a dump. Since they renovated the theatres to stadium I started going back and have been very pleased. Today when I got there with the kids to see the new Alvin movie, I got a nice surprise. The whole theatre now shows digital movies. No more film! They have Sony 4K machines that made it look like an LCD tv in hi-def. I am not aware of any other theatre in the Philly area that has done this completely. Very nice surprise, if they only didn’t split movies with that dump AMC down the road I would never go elsewhere. Very nice indeed!
MikeRa: No Joke, I saw Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead in a theater with I think 5 rows!!! Some are still pretty big and very nice though!
The 1980’s beige-colors that is in Frank’s Montgomeryville Stadium 12 is probally a holdover from it’s days as Sameric Theatres' Eric Montgomeryville 3 Theatre/United Artists Montgomeryville 7 Theatre.
What i’m trying to figure ou is how they were able to fit 12 Stadium seating theatres in a complex designed (after add-on') as a 7 theatre complex?
One of the more interesting theatres I’ve been to. It’s a bizarre blend of 80s multiplex and 00s megaplex. The lobby is the 80s multiplex, beige-colored, bland, nondescript. Then you go into the theatres… and you’ve advanced twenty years. Comfy high-back seats, stadium seating, and cup holders. Staff is quite friendly.
Not sure if I’d rank this at the top, but it’s a nice diversion from the AMCs and Regals of the area.

There is approval to build at the Costco site but there is no bidder seeing as how the genius landlord wants 7 million for the site. Way more than would be worth the size theatre that can be placed there. AMC’s lease is up at the end of Summer or so. They are likely going bye bye. The Frank Theatre is soon to be 14 screens. Word on the street says the construction will start there before August, seeing as how the Township already approved the plans.
Anyone know if they are opening a new theater where Costco is on 309… OR if the AMC 309 is closing???
Regal did give up on 4/28/06 because they are idiots. They fired everyone with no notice. Frank Theatres came in and hired everyone back. The theatre is slated for expansion and renovation in the very near future. Stay tuned…..
This theatre, as of 5/5/2006, is now known as “Frank Theatres' Montgomeryville 7 Theatre”. I am guessing Regal has finally given up on this former Sameric Theatres property.
REG Montgomeryville 7 Theatre opened in 1968/69 by Sam Shapiro as “Eric Montgomeryville Theatre”. It was twinned in late 1974. It became Eric Montgomeryville 3 Theatre in mid to late 1976. Between 1986 and 1989, the theatre added 4 more screens and became Eric Montgomeryville 7 Theatre. In 1992, United Artists dropped the “Eric” name from all the Philadelphia area theatres they acquired when they bought out Sameric Rocking Chair Theatres Company in 1988.
