Cinemark Tinseltown 20 and XD

Different users of this site clearly have different ideas of the purpose of this site. I, for one, interpret the goal of this site as a repository of cinematic history. Whether you are a fan of the monsterplex or not, it is now a part of the evolution of the theater experience. Had we been working on this site 30 years ago, we would probably be having this same conversation about some other evolution of the cinema like Cinerama.
While many of us may balk at the monster-plexes such as the Tinseltown 20, a whole new generation is building experiences and memories at these theaters that will someday be reminisced upon, and that makes them a valuable part of this site.

I agree with Lauren. Though many of us find the megaplexes distasteful in some ways, they are part of the current cinema experience, and in a few decades they will have established themselves as part of movie theater history. When they in turn are being replaced by something new, their passing will be mourned by future generations.

I just moved to OKC from Tulsa and live very near the 20 screen Tinseltown in OKC, I remember it being one of the Cinemark Neon 90’s catastrophes but it apparently just got flooded and then remodeled and it is beautiful now, very similar looking to the Cinemark Tulsa. Also beautiful is the 5.50 general admission and 3.75 matinees. All you have to do is brave the ghetto that surrounds it!

A Cinemark XD Auditorium was open in October 5, 2012.
