The Tribune Family Theater sets in the center of downtown Tribune, KS. It plays first-run movies on a single screen. The owners describe it as a “work in progress”. And, there’s nothing wrong with that.
They’ve chosen to concentrate on the inside first and that’s readily apparent as you walk in the door. The first thing you’ll notice is a very nice snack bar next to the interior ticket booth. There’s a sitting area in front of the bathrooms.
You can enter the auditorium from either the right or the left winding hallways.
Brightly draped blue and white material greets you from the walls as you enter the auditorium. It is steeply sloped upwards in the old-style stadium seating. The picture and sound qualities are excellent. The lower level of the room has some truly spectacular wooden-backed seating dating from way back. This is nice, little theater, and I know the people in Tribune, KS, are grateful it’s still there.
We visited it on a Friday night, and they drew a good crowd.

This theater has been called the Star Theater for a few years now, and their Facebook page has entries back to 2009. Ongoing renovation has altered the street front. New pictures in the Photo section.
Can anyone shed light on the venue’s history?
