Opening in 1941, the Stockade Auto-Torium was one of the first drive-ins to be built in Virginia. As the name implies, it had stockade fences to give it a fort like appearance. Car capacity is listed at 240. The Stockade Auto-Torium closed in 1963. Today, a Burger King is located on part of the former drive-in site.

The Virginia Gazette says it was the second drive-in to be built in Virginia and the sixth to be built in America.
Was owned by Cecil S. Houck.
Uploaded some new pictures of the Stockade Auto-Torium. I think they are from the late 1950’s. It looks like they are repairing part of the fence.
