The Lyceum Theatre, Broadway and 38th Street, is one of the 14 movie houses listed at Bayonne in the 1914-1915 American Motion Picture Directory.

The Lyceum showed family featured movies until it’s closing in the early 1980’s. The theater was closed, there was talk of saving it, but ultimately, it was demolished in favor of a Quick Check convenience store.

The Lyceum actually closed in November 1981. Last movie to be shown was Mommie Dearest.

In 1963, the operator was Rosenblatt-Welt Theaters out of NYC. B. Rosenblatt was president and L. Rosenblatt was secretary/treasurer. Other Rosenblatt theaters at the time were the Hights in Hightstown, NJ and the Empire in Staten Island.
