- Sep 5, 2008 — Remembering the Scenic Theatre
The Scenic Theatre was located on N. Main Street at Central Square in Rochester and was opened in 1912. In 1945, according to that year’s Film Daily Yearbook, it was open and seated 600. In 1950, the seating capacity was given as 975.
In June 2007, plans were proposed to convert the building into an entertainment center. This never materialised. In January 2021 conversion began to provide 50 apartments and commercial space in the building.

The Scenic is listed in the 1942-43 edition of the Motion Picture Almanac as part of the Interstate Theatre Corp. of Boston. Interstate also ran the Colonial (a.k.a. State) Theatre in Rochester.
It appears as though the Scenic may be rising from the dust. See the news story here View link
