The Tift Theatre bears a strong resemblance to the Martin Theatre (formerly the Ritz) in Panama City, Florida, which was opened in 1936.
I saw the following movies at the Tift Theater in the summer of 1960: Huckleberry Finn, Tall Story, a couple of Toby Tyler movies, The Shaggy Dog, a short regarding the Ingemar Johansson knockout of Floyd Patterson and Trapeze. Also showing that summer, but I could not attend because I was too young to see such a “racy” movie—Room at the Top.

An Allen theatre organ was donated and installed in the Tift during its restoration and reopening by John Clark McCall, Jr. Mark and Carrie Renwick, of Jacksonville, FL, were musical artists (organist and soprano) featured in the Tift’s inagural gala.
