Cinema 4 was built as an additional screen for the Walnut Hill Cinemas on Diamond Hill Road in Woonsocket. It was built, however, as a separate theatre a short distance away. It opened on February 16, 1973, two years after the opening of its sister triplex, the Walnut Hill Cinemas which was located in Walnut Hill Plaza. This one was further up the street in the nearby Woonsocket Plaza. It too, like the triplex, closed sometime in the mid 1980s.

The Walnut Hill Cinemas, which Cinema 4 was built to supplement, can be found here.
The opening day film for Cinema 4 was Deliverance.
After the theatre was closed it became an Evangelical church, later was razed, and the area is now occupied by a Lowe’s store.
Here is the opening day newspaper ad for Cinema 4.
I attended many screenings here as a child. Mon and Tues were often “dollar” nights. I remember seeing, on this screen: THE WAY WE WERE, THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, FUNNY LADY, COUNT DRACULA AND HIS VAMPIRE BRIDE, THE MAIN EVENT, UFO TARGET: EARTH plus THE DEVIL’S TRIANGLE, SILENT NIGHT EVIL NIGHT, WESTWORLD and many, many more. The last film I recall seeing there was AGNES OF GOD in 1985.
