The current Loews Liberty Tree Mall cinema replaced this one and this one. Loews inherited both of these from Sack Theatres, though it had originally built one of them.
According to the Loews July 2005 directory, seating capacities at the Loews Liberty Tree are: 207, 185, 232, 224, 90, 84, 90, 90, 315, 315, 315, 193, 492, 192, 194, 177, 90, 186, 192, 192, total of 4055 seats. There are 20 screens here. All have digital audio – ten have Dolby Digital and the other ten have Sony SDDS digital.
Cool.
Those seat counts are not correct. The largest house has more than 315 seats. This theatre was built with the star theatres “prototype” design. It has always been a very busy and high grssing theatre.
They converted one of the house to mini IMAX a year or two back.
Not even close to the full scale IMAX at Jordan’s Furniture in Reading.
They just finished re-doing the theater lobby which was long overdue since they still had Loews fixtures and a coffee bar that they never used. Added a small bar/restaurant. Also re-did all the theater seating with power recliners which likely reduced the seating capacity. They’re now all reserved seating and upgraded one house to the Dolby Cinema system which is almost like Sensurround in each seat. But beware if you’re in the theater next to it especially if you’re seeing a quieter film as the sound bleeding is pretty bad.
This opened on December 18th, 1998. Grand opening ad in the photo section.
