Why is this listed as open? The Off Broadway Theatre is listed at a different address entirely (outside of downtown Salt Lake City).
@rivest266, why the reference to the Mehesy (not Mersey) Theatre? Was this the same theater as the Kinema/Rialto?
To note, in Fay Wray’s autobiography there is a reference to a “Kinema” theater around as early as 1914. The “King Kong” actress wrote this book more than 7 decades later (in 1989), so it’s possible she wrongly remembered the name. Or maybe the theater previously operating on the premises had started using the name “Kinema” even before the grand reopening in 1920?

The Mersey Theatre initially advertised itself in 1911 (as indicated in the October 7th, 1975 grand opening ad for the Midtown Trolley). Grand opening advertisements are posted in 1911, 1920, 1927, and October 7th, 1975.
Interesting Name.
