Opened on November 10, 1935 with Claudette Colbert in “She Married Her Boss” along with a Fox Movietone Newsreel and a few unnamed shorts (unlisted on grand opening advertisement, but mentioned on article).
https://www.shelbyroxymt.com/ The web site indicates the theater is open. I’m posting this on 29 Sep 2025 and the web site listed showings this past weekend of “Honey Don’t”.
Currently being renovated.

The theatre was seen briefly in “Billy Connolly Tracks across America.
The Roxy opened a bit earlier than 1939. There is a photo of the recently-built house on this page of Boxoffice, November 14, 1936.
The correct address of the Roxy Cinema is 231 Main Street.
The official web site is now at this link.

Good grief! I remember being bored in Shelby (I think that’s a redundancy) in 1995 or ‘96 and going to see “Babe” at a Saturday matinee full of kids. Free popcorn and about 40 degrees below zero when we walked outside. I do remember well the hospitality of the (then) owners. It was a pleasant experience, but I’ve been fortunate enough to have not paid Shelby another visit. Brrrrrr!
