The theater closed sometime in the mid 90’s I believe. Patrons used to exit the two theaters to a small dimly lit area behind the two theaters to … socialize … with other patrons (ahem). The tiny restrooms were upstairs at the end of a narrow hall (nothing else upstairs, no balcony or anything). Wolfie’s closed March 30, 2008 BTW.

Reopened as a twin cinema on May 23rd, 1973 with a male program on no. 1 and female and male on no. 2. Grand opening ad posted.

This reopened as the 21st Street theatre on December 21st, 1969 with an adult double bill. Grand opening ad uploaded.

The Fine Arts theatre at 2039 Collins opened on June 13th, 1963 with “Tales of Paris” and “The Shoes” with Buddy Hackett. Grand opening ad posted.

That must have been a hostile crowd for Che!. In the real Che’s native Argentina, audience members would throw motolov cocktails at the screen from their disgust of the film.

This opened as the Fine Arts in 1963 with Jewish Vaudeville and a movie. It slowly moved to burlesque and soft-core porn films and was the 21st Street theatre by 1969.
