This was called the 78 Drive-In as it was located just a bit south off of Highway 78. The Google Satellite view from above still clearly shows the outline of the drive-in and rows, despite being closed over 30 years ago. A church known as Grants Chapel CME Church sits on the site about where the concession/projection building was. The sign for the church can be seen off the side road known as Cordova Cut Off Rd. It looks more modern, built after the drive in was demolished, but it appears closed, as there is no signs of an active business on the site listed on google, nor when looked up under the listing of CME churches online. A couple of google images were uploaded to show the current state of the site.
The Pathway Was Partially Visible Today. But It Has Been Like That Since The 1990’s As Late As 1998. The 78 Twin I Believe Closed Sometime In Either In The Late 1980’s Or The Early 1990’s, That’s My Best Guess.
The theatre opened October 30, 1948 with John Payne and June Haver in “Wake Up and Dream.” Built for $40,000 by John M. Miller and Garve Ivey, it was located on Highway 78 just two miles from the city limits of Jasper.
Why the name 78?
My father is from Jasper, he was born in 1936 & I know he lived there until be joined the Air Force in 1955. What a cool piece of history. He lives 700 + miles from me but I’m going to get this printed out & sent to him. I’m sure it’ll bring back great memories!! 😉

The above address will map to the location of the drive-in, which is still visible using Google Earth.
It was at the northwest corner of Old Birmingham Highway and Cordova Cut-off Road.
