The Prairie Cinemas opened in around 1980 with three screens. It was operated by Standaed Theaters of Milwaukee. It was taken over by Essaness Theatre who became Excellence Theatres on December 1, 1988 converted into five screens in the 1990’s, it was last operated by Carmike Cinemas.
The seats and projection equipment were removed from the theatre when it was closed in 1997.
In December 2009, a lease was taken out on the building, and converted the 13,000 square feet building space into a retail sporting goods store, with indoor baseball and softball batting cages and training facilities, known as ‘The Bat Cave’.

Really, not a bad looking 5 screen theatre.Did a monster 20 plex open up down the road,seems like it could still be in use showing movies and not hitting baseballs!Sometimes it might have been staying with three screens.
