Once operated by ABC Southeastern Theatres.
The space is rented out to a convention I am going to this weekend. I am going to try to poke around and determine if the movies being shown are DCP. I’ll try to report back.
Status should be changed to open. The restoration is beautiful. Generation Church meets here, but the building was restored as a theatre used by a church. Pensacola Cinema Art exhibits movies about once a month.
1947 photo added credit UWF Library. Black glossy facade on the storefronts to the left was called Vitrolite.
Opened on November 21st, 1937.

This reopened as Cinema ‘n’ Drafthouse on July 23rd, 1982.
The theater recently underwent an extensive restoration and I am happy to say it has now reopened as of April 17, 2015. Great to see yet another part of downtown Pensacola be brought back to life.
Here is an update on the renovation of the Rex Theatre by the Harvest Church. Link
Can somebody please put up some information about the Pen and Florida theatres in Pensacola. Being stationed there in 1959-60, 1964-1965 and then again in the 80’s I visited these theatres many times besides the Saenger.
From 2011 a photo of the Rex Theatre in Pensacola.
Here are my pictures from September 2010.
From the late 1940s a postcard view of downtown Pensacola along with the Rex Theatre.
A 1986 view of the Rex Theater in Pensacola here and here. Enlarged views here and here.
There’s some fairly detailed information here:
