The Empire Theatre opened October 6, 1899. It was designed by John B. McElfatrick. The Empire Theatre was used for vaudeville, musical performances, plays and eventually motion pictures. From September 2, 1933 it was operated by the Schine circuit. This theatre closed in 1950 and was converted to office space.

The book Queensbury and Glen Falls by Bob Bayle, Andrea Matte & Tim Weidner mentions an underground passage from the neighboring Hotel Rullif to the Empire Theatre. 1910 postcard image added.
