Rialto Theatre

The Crescent Theatre was opened on January 8, 1914. It was located on Main Street, a couple of blocks east of the Plaza Theatre and was just to the right of the original firehouse. It became the Rialto Picture House on October 12, 1917. A small bandbox theatre, it was closed as the Rialto Theatre in September 1951.

Also known as the Crescent Theatre and The Rialto Picture House.

Originally known as the Crescent Theatre, first listed in the Stamford City Directory at 585 Main Street in1916. It’s not in the 1917 version but reappears in 1918 as The Rialto Picture House at the current address. Last listed in 1951.

AI rewritten:

The Crescent Theatre, which originally opened its doors on January 8th, 1914, underwent a transformation and emerged as the Rialto on October 12th, 1917. Sadly, it ceased operations in September 1951, serving as Stamford’s most affordable theater during its existence.
