Opened on 22nd April 1948 with “Til the clouds roll by”.

Boxoffice, June 25, 1955: “Paul Pless of the Dreamland Drive-In, Asheville, N. C., has an amusement park with miniature golf and other attractions, including a concession stand, open in front of the theatre all day.”
This opened on April 22nd, 1948. Grand opening ad in the photo section.
Approx. address for this drive-in was 91 South Tunnel Road.
Lowes and Walgreens sits on the site of this former drive-in theater.
STAR WARS played here at the Dreamland Drive-In as one of the many re-releases on July 21,1978 that brought in capacity crowds….STAR WARS played here for several weeks before it ended its run on September 7,1978.
Dec. 30 1979 has"FIREPOWER" and “THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY” playing plus a third hit the “MODELS”
Jan 6 1980 Now playing at the DREAMLAND “THE CHAMP” and “CANNONBALL"Plus "GRAND THEFT AUTO”.

Great name.
So glad to find SOMEONE from Western N.C. Sadly, i visited the DREAMLINE DRIVE IN once it had become a flea market, But,the screen was up. The concessionstand and booth. Box office in perfect condition.Looked like it could a movie that night.

OPEN at 6:15 first show at 7:15 Second show at 8:55 and third show at 10:30 the movies playing on Jan 13 1980 were DISCO FEVER and BAD GEORGIA ROAD and a third feature THE GIRLS WHO"LL DO ANYTHING all RATED R. This at a Drive-in called Asheville’s Finest.
You need to correct the information on this theatre. It was actually located on the corner of Tunnel Rd and Swannanoa River Rd. It now houses a Walgreens drug store and a Loews.
Dreamland was actually a flea market even while the drive in was functioning. IT was a drive in during Saturday and Sunday afternoons and a drive in at nights.
