Here’s a quote that says the Aggie stayed open until 1994.
Santa Fe New Mexican, Feb. 3, 1995: “the Aggie Drive-In in Las Cruces, the only one in that city, closed six months ago, said Harold Cousland, Las Cruces Sun News editor.”
The address of the mobile home park that covers the old Aggie site and much more is 1751 W Hadley Ave.
Boxoffice, Feb. 28, 1966: “Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Gwaltney are building the 600-car Aggie Drive-In at Las Cruces, N.M.”
Boxoffice, December 1981: “Lamar Gwaltney of Mountain States Cinema … has awarded a contract to twin the Aggie Drive-In. Opening of the new twin drive-in is scheduled for March 1.”
Opened May 12, 1966 launching with the film, “Charade.” Closed in 1993.
Now a trailer park, the closest address I could find was Ontiveros Insulation at 485 North Archuleta Road. The theatre was behind this location.
WAS this the ROCKET DRIVE-in?
